University and CPop

This post comes to you in 2 parts. One considerably longer than the other XD

1. CPop xD Well it started with wanting to know who the singers were in the Beijing Closing ceremony [one of which turned out to be from Korea...so KPop] and so I posted a post in a community I know and on here, in the community I was pointed to a CPop community, and it's a gift. I love the music. It did make me feel weird at first...slightly jealous, because I started thinking about what I know of foreign cultures, the chinese culture for example, and wishing that my culture was just a bit more exciting. I also found my want to visit these places rekindled. Like Tokyo, Beijing, Singapore and then also non-Asian countries - America, NZ, Russia and Italy...I also want to go back to France. I love other people's cultures, and becuase I am, obviously, so used to the English culture, I find it hugely bland and dull in comparison......

2. University. Well. When I came back from my vacation [Since being in the 5AT and being on Youtube a lot more, I have been using so many American words far far more, awesome, vacation, shirt [instead of top] and store have all crept stealithy into my vocabulary, along with pants [which popped out the other day] and trash...It's scary XD] I posted a very quick post about my results from my A Levels, which I got just before i went away...I didn't have a chance to post them before I left. I was pleased with my results, I was NOT expecting to get the grades I did and get into uni. Now I know a lot of people say that, and other people's responses are 'well if you did all your work and revision then you have nothing to worry about' I seriously did not think I was gonna see the unconditional written on UCAS track, like I spectacularly thought we would be spending the day going through Clearing and whatnot. And if you response is the revision repsonse...well yeah, I could have done a lot more revision, and started a lot earlier. Most of the revision [I say most, because I did revise before the exams but I buckled down properly] was done days before the exams. So the stress was my own fault, I know, but I have found that if I am not under immense pressure, as in you will fail if you don't do it now....I won't do it, and if I do it doesn't stay in my head. So yeah, with the shitty way I went around revising for my exams I had every right to be panicking, but I wasn't got to say that when my Mum said to be, you revised don't worry.

So basically when I saw that I was freaking SHOCKED. I had to keep logging back in and finally printing the page off in case it changed XD I got an A in Sociology, which I was kinda expecting and which I am hugely proud of because it is my first and only overall A in any of my AS/A Levels. I got a B in English Language, which I was pleased with, I got a B in my AS level English, and so I am glad I managed to pull that through and not let it drop, especially as a lot of my practice essays/mock papers were in the C grades or often below.....I mean in 2 essays I got E's and the 'constructive criticism' from my teacher included a comment like 'Pull your finger out' [yeah she could be shit at times] and so I am chuffed that I managed to get a B :D I also got a B in Psychology, which I was really surprised at....At AS level I got a C [So I managed to pull that up a grade] and that C was because of one of my units. In Core studies 1 & 2 I got Bs, however in Psychological Investigations I managed to get an E. I retook the E in January and only managed to pull it up to a D, then I retook that exam again, along with My crime paper [which I got a C in the first time, which wasn't good enough seeing as I was doing it in Uni] and managed to get the D up to a B the third time around [which I am HUGELY proud of :D and which was 2 marks off an A :D] Along with my high grades in my coursework I managed to turn it all into a big ol' B. Finally I got a C in my Media....I'm not sure how I feel about this. I got a C last year, and I thought I had worked hard this year to try to bring it up to a B at least. I got an A in my independent study and was feeling positive about the exams. Looking back at my results from the June exams, my whole grade was pulled down by the synoptic paper in which I got about half marks [D]...Even so I am happy It stayed the same instead of dropping :D

Overall, even though I needed 300pts from 3 A levels [which is 3 Bs] and I got 280 from my 3 A Levels, they still accepted me.

It completely hit home, when I got back from my holiday on Friday to find my University StartUp pack, a letter from UCAS, my official results from College and another acceptance letter from Pompey. Reading through the pack, and it talking about registatration, and enrollment, and book lists - I was like oh my frick...It's a scary experience XD I mean, I really don't do well with meeting new people [IRL] and having to go to uni and make a WHOLE new load of friends...from scratch...woah. It's the whole, fear of being totally judged, which I know everyone does [me included] but It's still something that I don't do very well xD. I get hugely shy, on most occasions don't talk to anyone, and [apparently] look very intimidating xD

Which I try not to do, I mean I have tried to talk to people, I just get this overwhelming fear that people will laugh when I introduce myself and be like WTF go away xDD Which is totally irrational, and would never [hopefully] happen, but the lack of self confidence sometimes is crazy.

Anyways, another thing, I have been wandering around the yougofurther website [when it works], trying to get to know some people who I will be meeting on the 29th of September before I actually meet them [trying unsuccessfully XD] and one of the things that makes me die a little inside each time I see about it is when they talk about moving into halls on the 27th Sept, now don't get me wrong, on the whole I am still happy with my decision to stay at home for my first year, but it's natural for me to feel slightly on the sidelines with that experience, as I won't be experiencing it yet. I just get this little 'I want to move out, and get on a plane, or a train, or a coach or something with all my stuff and move into Halls, I want to know my room number, and get a TV licence' XDDDDD which is all stupid because 1.my uni is around the corner 2. I could stick a random number to my bedroom door LOL 3. I live at home and don't need a TV licence. and I don't want to move out yet, it's just the whole experience and process itself that I'm drawn to, and the fact that they all have something in common which is getting them talking. I'll do it next year :D

I have also been thinking about the 29th :O Which is when I enroll/register. I have to be in my building, Portland Building, St James' Street, at 10.00am, in room 1.53 [yes I have it memorised] for enrollment, and then to Nuffield Sports centre at 15.30pm for registration, and I get my booklist and my timetable and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH XD. Then it's freshers week until the 6th when everything starts.

It's petrifying.

But so damned exciting and a bit liberating :D

Oh My God.
Ohkay, University go-ers out there...respond. How did you feel a few days before you got your results, be it last year or whenever...Were you going mad? Were you nervous? Were you fine?
I'm going mad....Sick to the stomach, and so nervous xDD

I had a dream about results last night, the first one I've had and I'm going to tell you alllll about it. Y'no, because I have to keep talking about it XD
Well, it was results day, I almost went online and looked but at the last minute I didn't. For some reason this was at like 6.30am. So then me and my mum and my sister went to college to get the results, but we had to wait until 8.45am. And then like 20minutes before we were allowed to get the results, my Mum went 'I'm hungry, we're going to get some breakfast' and I was like, but we get the results soon, but they still preferred to go have breakfast than come with me. So I went in. and I was given a piece of paper, but it didn't have any results on it. and then I was given another one, but there were loads of numbers, so I had tk ask which was my ucas points. and he kept pointing to ones like 129 and 89 [I have to get 300 fyi] and then pointed to one that was like 110YFMSJE5 and was like that's your grade....then about half an hour later I found the actual grade and I had 721 XDD and I had passed, but Kathryn Noble [who always does better than me] got 4000 and something [which is stupid because IRL you can get like 400 max or something XD]. But yeah...
That was my dream.

At least I passed XD

On a side note, because I literally JUST got the text, my aunty - who had embryos put in a couple of months ago, has been really ill and we thought she had completely miscarried - only miscarried one embryo and the other survived. Which is sad and happy all at once. :D

Anyways, back to grades....I have been avoiding all discussion of results day [for the most part anyways] since my exams. However seeing as it is the day after the day after tomorrow I can't avoid it much longer....we have gradually started talking about what we will do if I don't get the grades, what we will do if I do, and it's so nerve wracking. And since I have consciously started thinking about results I am constantly trying to predict what I will be getting - which the people who follow me on twitter and probably sick of by now <3 [FYI - twitter = cassandra2603] - and that's driving me crazy.

I half can't wait, half just don't want to know.
I would just love to skip forward to Friday, when I will be on holiday, and be done with it.
ARGH.

Breaking Dawn Backlash - No Spoilers

This is a response to the first post here, but amazon are saying I can't reply because I haven't bought anything..

I'm sorry but Breaking Dawn was not 'badly-written and poorly-edited garbage' I know alot of people will probably hugely disagree with me, but it wasn't. It may not have had what you wanted in it, it may not have had the right outcome or enough violence, or enough whatever it is you maniacs are moaning about in it, but you can't say it was badly written. If you want to return your book then that's fine, but stirring up what is really a hate campaign against the publishers and Stephenie Meyer is stupid and disgusting.

Would you make this much fuss over another book you didn't like? NO, it's because you know that there is a lot of publicity and interest around these books and this author, or is there another reason? Why is everyone making SO much fuss, just over a book they didn't like. Yes a lot of so-called twilight fans [even though I can't see how some of you can call yourselves fans after the utterly offensive backlash that has been going on] don't like the book, but why so much backlash...you wouldn't get this if a few people picked up the same book randomly and didn't like it.

FINE return your books, at least then we might hear the end of your whining and moaning about it.

I'm just fed up with everyone! Yes, one particular aspect of Breaking Dawn was slightly disappointing, but otherwise - the other 98% of the book - I really really liked. I have had to give myself some time before picking it up again, but for the most part I thought it was a brilliant story. I loved the character development....some more than others. I loved some of the events that happened...
The one thing that annoyed me...truly hugely annoyed me, but that didn't mean that I am going to start burning the book. I just can't believe how huge fans of Twilight and Stephenie Meyer have so suddenly, and so quickly turned on her and the books...I seriously HONESTLY cannot see what is so awful about the books...I mean the people I have talked to, my friends, have all like it, they have said it wasn't what they expected [but was it really what anyone expected? Certainly wasn't for me] but they liked it for the most part. And the bit I had issues with none of them had picked up [or it wasn't a major issue for them]. So I don't get what is so dreadful about the book. I think that a few people have hated the book, some people have seen the reviews before/whilst reading the book and it has affected their opinion. Basically the negativity has spread like wildfire, and there seems to be no stop to it.
I don't care if you don't like the book, I don't care if you want to burn it [it's your own money you're wasting] or return it. But I do care when people turn on Stephenie Meyer and start saying she is a shit writer and she sucks. I'm sorry but the book was not badly written, none of her books are...quite the opposite really, and you cannot say that just because you didn't like the way the plot went.

GET OVER IT.
Stop your bitching and moaning and leave the rest of the twilight community in peace.....PLEASE.

New Harry Potter Trailer - Didn't Excite me.

*gasp*...I know...¬.¬
I was expecting something breathtaking....actually that's a lie, none of the HP films have been particularly breathtaking for me, the closest that came to it was OotP...I mean, don't get me wrong, it looks good. But I didn't get hugely excited and hyperventilate at it. - Like I did for, Oh I don't know, the Twilight trailers....

Any twilight footage is released..and I get goosebumps and like can't breathe XDD With the HP trailer, I was kinda left expecting more. I must admit the bit with the flames, which I assume is the inferi-island bit looked impressive and young!Voldie was a good actor...But I dislike the character or Dumbledore and the actor who plays Dumbledore, and as Book 6 is highly Dumbledore focused it isn't my favourite in the series, and so I don't expect it to be my favourite film.

TWILIGHT ON THE OTHER HAND! Freaking excites me everytime xD It's like 4 days until I get my book....4 days!! and I can't wait. It's going to be fawesome.

I have also rekindled an interest in Greek mythology. When I first read the Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan, and each time a new one came out, I would really get into Greek mythology. I am just rereading all four books, and this time round I am actually going to do something about it :) i.e. read some stuff, look up some stuff, get a couple of books maybe....I dunno. Just gain some knowledge. I really am not too knowledgable on A LOT of subjects, and so I am going to try really hard to build it all up.

Okay, now about my favourite God :)
Poseidon - Poseidon is the sea God. He invented horses out of the foam on the waves. He is also known as the 'Earth-shaker' - as in he is able to cause earthquakes :D He was one of the big three...He and his 2 brothers, Zeus and Hades, made up the 'Big Three'. He was a bit of a man-whore XD He had many many children. He also protected many cities, but lost Athens to the Goddess Athena. There was always a level of rivalry between Poseidon and Athena. He first received his trident during the war between the Titans and the Gods, which lasted ten years, and in which the Titans were defeated. Poseidon was one of the many children of Kronos, who was the Lord of the Titans. In many myths Poseidon and his other brothers and sisters were initially swallowed by Kronos at birth, but because they were immortal they didn't die, they just kept growing, then later, they were freed by Zeus. They then used Kronos' own scythe to cut him into many pieces and cast him into Tarturus for eternity. However in a few myths, Poseidon escaped the same fate as his brothers and sisters along with Zeus. At the end of the war of the Titans, it was said that the world was divided into three, with Zeus getting the sky, Poseidon getting the sea and Hades the underworld. Although Poseidon was giving a throne in Mt. Olympus [unlike Hades] he preferred to remain in his underwater palace with his queen Amphitrite, daughter of the Old Man of The Sea.

So that's a SMALL portion on Poseidon...I will do more when I next update my LJ XD And believe it or not, this was written my me, mostly from what I had learnt from Percy Jackson books and previous reading....basically there is no copying and pasting...

Right.
I've decided to try and be good, and pay for my downloaded music.
So I went to iTunes, downloaded a song, found because I don't have an iPod, I can't use it because it won't go onto anythingelse. So I scour the net trying to find converters in order to convert it into a form I can use on my zen.....I manage to, I do it and transfer it but it skips, continuously.
So I am trying to find a GODAMNED easy way to download music, to use on my zen.

So basically what non ipod based program do you use to buy your music?

OH MY FUCKING GOD.
WHAT A FUCKING KNOBHEAD.
Jennifer [BigBrother - I know I know, Oh dear god not more about Big brother, but I just can't help it] is such a twat. They had an argument the other day, involving pretty much the entire house, stemming from her over reaction - well prolonged over reaction, yes rex shouldn't have done it, but he did thoroughly apologize, but after that she kept crying, got everyone else involved, the guys made rex apologise AGAIN whilst shouting abuse at him whilst he was doing it, Mo got involved [stupid yes, but oh well] saying [rightly so] it was just a painting, got completely attacked by Dale, Bex, Stuart AND Dennis, which culminated in him being spat on and mocked by Dennis [Fucking knob] Dale and Stuart accused him of squaring up to Bex [which he blatantly wasn't]. Mo went out and was crying [understandable after being mocked, spat on, and rumours of homophobia being spread about you, I''ve been spat on in the face and it frankly makes you want to throw up] Darnell saw this, also saw how the other group were on Dennis' side, and went to confront them about accepting Dennis' spitting behaviour, yes he lost his temper hugely, and was very aggressive...Dale followed him back to the other bedroom and proceeded to get aggressive to both Rex and Mo one last time.

Next day - Dennis was removed, Jen and Sylvia both completely overreacted bawling for hours [well a long time at least] then, obviously, there was a confrontation in the bedroom between Darnell vs Bex, Luke, Sylvia and Dale - Jen said Darnell should leave because his behaviour was just as bad as Dennis' [WTF?! shouting does not compare to spitting] and then was saying that Mo deserved it because he was squaring up to Bex 'You don't speak like that to a woman, he was talking to her like she was a man' - OMFG DOUBLE STANDARDS - I'm sorry, but if it had been like Bex wasn't allowed to do a task because it would be like treating her like a man [e.g. assault course or something stupid] Jen would have had uproar, but not this, you cannot expect to be treated equally if you insist on woman on man, or same sex arguments, not man on woman. I'm sorry but Bex is a grown woman with a huge fucking mouth, she had just as big a voice as Mo [if not fucking louder] yet he isn't allowed to argue with her? Where is the fucking equality in that? He wasn't even yelling at her, he was confronting Dale and Stuart and she decided to get involved, and because she started yelling at him, and he started yelling back, he is being dominating over her.....because she is a woman. Jen also went on to say that Dennis 'asked' Mo to leave several times, and that he only spat because he was defending his friend. ACTUALLY Dennis said Fuck Off a few times before spitting, and blates did it in a malicious way as he proceeded to throw insult after insult at Mo. She was also like [to Rex] you wouldn't be able to touch art in an art gallery like that, but Dennis spitting was okay because it was in defence - Since when is spitting in someone's face a viable come back in an argument - it's highly intimidating, degrading behaviour - HOW THE FUCK IS THIS COMPARED TO SHOUTING AT SOMEONE. She was also having a go at Darnell for getting agressive - ER HELLO did you see stuart and Dale AT ALL that evening? Weren't they [as well as Bex and pretty much everyone else in the room] getting hugely agressive [I distinctly remember the highly original 'Get off his/my dick' screamed by Dale frequently, as well as Dale shouting at Rex to get out when he was trying to apologize] However that's okay, because that's in her defense. I think Rex was pretty much the only one who stayed fairly calm, He shouldn't have done it to the painting [Even though I can't see any fucking difference to the stupid fucking painting] He apologized [twice] like sincerely, and I think that Dale and Stuart were trying to escalate their masculinity and Jen was being a fucking twat and attention seeker.

I'm sorry about the HUGE post, I only just caught up on it, and I got so angry at the fucking awful behaviour of supposedly civilised people, they are supposed to represent society [I know this is loosely, as they are picked for certain features, but technically that is a cross section of our society, and no matter what people say, this happens every year, and its disgraceful] I JUST GET SO FUCKING ANGRY AT THESE PEOPLE, and I seriously just had to post about it.

OMFG I pretty much cried the entire way through Dr Who getting worse and worse towards the end....wtf is wrong with me?!

What is with the Doctor regenerating?! That's if he actually does of course. But OMFG 1. They kept that sooooooo quiet, 2. I ♥ DT too much, and so he started regenerating I bawled XD I cried when The doctor was talking to everyone and not Rose, and I kept going find Rose, find Rose, when he and rose were running to each other, when he got shot, more when he was shot, and then lots when he was regenerating. I don't want him to go.

Best ever episode of Dr Who, also the saddest.
