I have also rekindled an interest in Greek mythology. When I first read the Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan, and each time a new one came out, I would really get into Greek mythology. I am just rereading all four books, and this time round I am actually going to do something about it :) i.e. read some stuff, look up some stuff, get a couple of books maybe....I dunno. Just gain some knowledge. I really am not too knowledgable on A LOT of subjects, and so I am going to try really hard to build it all up.

Okay, now about my favourite God :)
Poseidon - Poseidon is the sea God. He invented horses out of the foam on the waves. He is also known as the 'Earth-shaker' - as in he is able to cause earthquakes :D  He was one of the big three...He and his 2 brothers, Zeus and Hades, made up the 'Big Three'. He was a bit of a man-whore XD He had many many children. He also protected many cities, but lost Athens to the Goddess Athena. There was always a level of rivalry between Poseidon and Athena. He first received his trident during the war between the Titans and the Gods, which lasted ten years, and in which the Titans were defeated. Poseidon was one of the many children of Kronos, who was the Lord of the Titans. In many myths Poseidon and his other brothers and sisters were initially swallowed by Kronos at birth, but because they were immortal they didn't die, they just kept growing, then later, they were freed by Zeus. They then used Kronos' own scythe to cut him into many pieces and cast him into Tarturus for eternity. However in a few myths, Poseidon escaped the same fate as his brothers and sisters along with Zeus. At the end of the war of the Titans, it was said that the world was divided into three, with Zeus getting the sky, Poseidon getting the sea and Hades the underworld. Although Poseidon was giving a throne in Mt. Olympus [unlike Hades] he preferred to remain in his underwater palace with his queen Amphitrite, daughter of the Old Man of The Sea.



So that's a SMALL portion on Poseidon...I will do more when I next update my LJ XD And believe it or not, this was written my me, mostly from what I had learnt from Percy Jackson books and previous reading....basically there is no copying and pasting...
